Not only did Meghan Markle discontinue her lifestyle blog after starting a relationship with Prince Harry, she deleted all her social media accounts once she became his fiancée. It's royal protocol, it seems, to let official channels (such as Kensington Palace's Instagram account and the royal family's account) handle all the posting. And that's why Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton don't have individual Instagram accounts. Yet Harry and William's cousin Princess Eugenie is on Instagram, having launched her account this spring. So why does Eugenie get all the fun?

It's all about her proximity to the throne… or lack thereof, as the case may be. Princess Eugenie of York is the younger daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York — aka one of Queen Elizabeth's sons and one of Prince Charles' younger brothers — and Andrew's ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York. As such, she's ninth in the line of succession to the throne, and she doesn't have a formal working role in the royal family.

My beautiful big sissy!

Eugenie does accompany her dad on official engagements, and she does support charitable causes, but her main occupation has her working as an associate director at London art gallery Hauser & Wirth. And it's likely for that reason, People recently speculated, that she gets to do her own Instagram posting. (What remains a mystery — to us, at least — is why her older sister, Princess Beatrice, hasn't joined Instagram, as well. But perhaps Beatrice simply chooses not to.)

Anyway, since starting her account this March, Eugenie has shared images from her charitable appearances, candids of fiancé Jack Brooksbank, throwback pics of her mum and her sis, and even a photo of two Yorkshire Terriers (whom she dubbed "another set of York siblings"). Meanwhile, she has already amassed 175k followers as of the time of this post, putting our own Instagram followings to shame!

Sarah welcomed her daughter to the social network in March and has since raved about how proud she is of Eugenie (and Beatrice, of course). And we can only imagine the Instagram love mother and daughter will share when Eugenie and Jack wed this October!
