Rumors of an alleged royal feud between brothers Prince William and Prince Harry have been swirling for months. And, according to a new TV special, the rift may have actually been caused by some “well-intended brotherly advice” that William, 36, gave to Harry, 34, before the Duke of Sussex married Meghan Markle in May 2018.

Royal Fans Are Convinced Prince William Is Giving Meghan Markle The Cold Shoulder In New Video

In a sneak peek video from TLC’s Kate v. Meghan: Princesses at War? — which airs tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 10 p.m. EST — obtained by E! News, royal journalist and author Katie Nicholl suggested William was “quite concerned” by how quickly Harry’s romance with Meghan, 37, was progressing. But when Kate Middleton‘s husband brought it up to his brother, the notion only “riled” Harry and caused a disagreement between the two.

“He was quite concerned that the relationship was moving too quickly. And, being close to Harry — probably the only person close enough to say [something like this] — he said, ‘This seems to be moving quickly, are you sure?’ And I think what was meant as well-intended brotherly advice just riled Harry,” Nicholl explained in the clip.

Prince Harry Is Reportedly Unhappy Amid All This Royal Family Drama

“Harry is hugely protective of Meghan, he saw that as criticism,” Nicholl continued. “He interpreted that as his brother not really being behind this marriage, this union, and I don’t think things have been quite right [between the brothers] ever since.”

Other royal commentators featured in the preview clip agreed that any strain on Harry and William’s relationship today is likely due to Meghan’s influence on the monarchy. “Everything I’ve heard is that Harry is completely beguiled by Meghan and completely enthralled to her and has changed considerably. People do change when they get married,” royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell said.

Ingrid Seward, the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, added, “And before Harry met Meg, he was around at Kensington Palace. He was eating with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, he was very much a part of their family. Then, suddenly, he meets Meghan and falls in love and he’s off. So he’s sort of suddenly out of their lives and there may have been some resentment.”

Thankfully, the brothers seem to be on better terms today as Princess Diana‘s former royal butler exclusively told Closer Weekly in a recent interview that Harry and William will always be “inseparable.” Paul Burrell explained, “I do not believe that William and Harry are growing apart. They may have differences, as they are two very different personalities, [but] I think that their life bond was forged at the time of their mother’s death and that they are inseparable.”
