Harry and Meghan Will Spend First Valentine’s Day as a Married Couple Apart, Kensington Palace Confirms

What a shame! It looks like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be celebrating their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple apart this year. The sad news was confirmed by Kensington Palace via Twitter on Monday, January 28 in a message revealing that the Duke of Sussex, 34, will be out of town on a royal engagement on the romantic holiday.

“The Duke of Sussex, Captain General @RoyalMarines, will visit Exercise Clockwork to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the operation in Bardufoss, Norway on Thursday, February 14,” the palace wrote in a tweet. “The Duke of Sussex will meet military personnel living and training on the base, view some of the specialist outdoor severe weather equipment and training that is conducted at Clockwork and talk with expert aircrews and engineers.”

Hopefully, in between his appearances, Harry will at least be able to talk on the phone with pregnant Meg, 37, so the two are still feeling a little bit of love on Valentine’s Day. However, the former Suits actress — who is expected to give birth in a few short months — could probably use some downtime on the holiday to plan for their little bundle of joy’s impending arrival.

So far, the Duchess of Sussex has already gotten some pre-baby planning done like decorating their first child’s nursery in gender neutral colors. Sources who are helping with Harry and Meghan’s home renovations at Frogmore Cottage recently told Entertainment Tonight, “the nursery itself is going to be very modern.” Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl continued, “Don’t expect to see any baby pink or baby blue. Apparently, it’s going to be a monochrome palette — whites and grays, I’m told, will be the color theme for baby Sussex’s nursery.”

Knowing Meg and Harry, there’s a reason behind their genderless approach to nursery decor. “They’ve decided not to find out the sex,” Nicholl said. Well, it looks like Meg won’t be planning her gender reveal party for Valentine’s Day while Harry’s away on his royal engagement!
