Padma Lakshmi is getting candid about her past relationships — and admitted there was a time when she didn’t know who her young daughter‘s father was.
Following her 2007 divorce from novelist Salman Rushdie, the 45-year-old actress began dating both late billionaire Teddy Forstmann — who died at age 71 in November 2011 — and venture capitalist Adam Dell, 46.

When she became pregnant with her daughter, Krishna, 6, in 2009, Padma wasn’t immediately sure she knew the identity of her unborn baby’s father.
“It probably wasn’t the best choice, but it was the choice that I made at the time,” she said of simultaneously seeing two men during a new interview on Today.

“I didn’t want to be in a serious relationship. I was still really hurting from my divorce. I probably shouldn’t have been with anybody and just taken the time I needed for myself. But I was presented with two very different, very interesting men. Men do it all the time. I chose to do it, and I was open with the men involved. I’m going to own my history,” Padma continued during the sit-down to discuss her new memoir, Love, Loss and What We Ate.
Padma’s ex-boyfriend, Adam, was later revealed to be Krishna’s biological father.
