So cute! Neil Patrick Harris proved that falling in love with David Burtka definitely wasn’t a series of unfortunate events. The beloved actor penned a sweet message to his husband on the 15th anniversary of their first date. In honor of the relationship milestone, the How I Met Your Mother star took to Instagram on Monday, April 1, to share a sweet pic with the professional chef.

“My first date with David was 15 years ago today, and we’ve been nearly inseparable ever since. I’m so, so grateful to this gorgeous man for giving me his heart, his shoulder, his strength, his lust, his laughter, his joy,” the 45-year-old gushed alongside the snap of them enjoying an Icelandic blue lagoon. “He’s an actor, chef, author, singer, producer and the most wonderful, selfless parent I’ve ever seen. A sextuple threat, if you will. And I most certainly will. Happy 15th Anniversary, @dbelicious. You keep making all my dreams come true.” Take a look at the adorable tribute below!

Fans of the loving couple — who are dads to 8-year-old twins Harper and Gideon — couldn’t help but praise Neil and David’s successful Hollywood romance. “Congrats gents. What a beautiful life you’ve made together. Inspiring,” one user wrote in the comment section of Neil’s post. “Neither one of you age … grateful that you have a life full of love between each other and overflowing into your children,” wrote another.

Neil wasn’t the only one expressing the most sentimental of words, though. David, 43, also took to social media to share a sweet message to his superstar hubby. “15 years ago Neil Patrick Harris and I met on the street,” David began. “From that day he has made my world a better place. Thank you @nph for the best years of my life. I can’t believe how fast 15 years have gone. Happy Anniversary! I can’t wait to keep on laughing, playing and loving for years to come.”

These two have been living a life of marital bliss ever since they tied the knot in a romantic wedding ceremony in September 2014. Following their intimate nuptials in Italy, Neil opened up about the reason why he and David — who began dating in 2004 and got engaged in 2007 — waited so long to get married.

“I think when our kids got to the age where they were having reasonable conversations — where they’re asking lots of ‘why’ questions — then it seemed like to be able to have a real clear-cut explanation of who their daddy is,” Neil, who welcomed kids via surrogate with David, once explained during an appearance on The View. “I think it’s great [to say], ‘He’s my husband.'”

Happy anniversary to the two lovebirds!
