Before he was yelling at people on the street over parking spaces, it seems that Alec Baldwin was quite the charmer. So much the charmer that actress Melanie Griffith tried to reel him in. The only issue is that Alec wasn’t about that life.

According to Hollywood Reporter, who did an oral history of Working Girl, the 1988 movie that Melanie starred in with Alec, the 61-year-old actress once felt a romantic connection with Alec, but the 60-year-old wasn’t feeling it. “Alec Baldwin is handsome and charming, and I just had such a crush on him,” Melanie told the outlet. “But he wouldn’t go there with me. I was like, ‘Oh come on, have a romance with me!’ But no, Alec said, ‘I can’t do this with people I work with.’ He’s a sweetheart.” Boy, times sure have changed. Even though Alec didn’t reciprocate, that doesn’t mean Melanie wasn’t interested in someone else. In fact, once Working Girl director Mike Nichols brought in Liam Dalton (the current Axiom capital management CEO) on set to teach Melanie about mergers and acquisitions she was smitten. That’s right, smitten.

“I was like, ‘Oh great, I have to work with some dork from Wall Street,'” Melanie recalled. “And then this guy walked in, and he was so gorgeous, so sexy. I was like, ‘Yeah, tell me about mergers and acquisitions all you want.’ We had an incredible romance. He was my love for a long time after that, too. We’re still friends. He lives in New York, is married and has four kids.”

This wasn’t the last love for Melanie as she has been married four times. Twice from Don Johnson, once from Steven Bauer. and once from good old Antonio Banderas. Melanie also has three kids, with Dakota Johnson being the most famous one, thus the most important one. And if you’re in the mood to watch Working Girl, just know that it’s about a secretary, played by Melanie, who pretends to be her boss (Sigourney Weaver) as revenge for stealing her idea. You know, just the typical ’80s movie plot.
