When It Comes To Raising His Daughters, Alec Baldwin Is ‘Grateful’ That His Two Girls Have ‘Very Capable Mothers’
Actor Alec Baldwin revealed that if it wasn’t for his two daughters having “capable mothers,” he wouldn’t be able to navigate fatherhood as adequately. The 30 Rock star praised his ex-wife, Kim Basinger, and current wife, Hilaria Baldwin, for their skills when it comes to raising their two girls, Ireland Baldwin and Carmen Baldwin. Though Alec has three sons with Hilaria as well, he thinks young females need the most support from the same gender to guide them when they are growing up and experiencing life.
On an upcoming episode of Dr. Oz, Alec, 60, supposedly revealed a time when he tried discussing with Ireland, 23, the downfalls of dating. “I remember saying to Ireland… when she was much younger and she was dating guys,” Alec said, according to Page Six. “She was — I don’t know, 15 or 16 — and she had zero interest in my input. We’re in a car and… I thought, ‘This is the moment. It’s the birds and the bees or kind of, you know, the birds and bees and the drinking in a bar with the birds and the bees moment.'”
As if this conversation doesn’t sound awkward enough, Alec kept going. “And she just stared out the window, like, ‘Oh, please, don’t talk to me about this.’ But I said to her that men will say anything to get you to do what they want you to do,” Alec described. “I said, ‘That’s not the problem… The problem is some of them are very good at it.'” The Saturday Night Live star explained that he then finished the conversation.
After coming to the realization that Ireland most likely wanted nothing to do with him and that conversation, he began to grasp how much praise the two mothers truly deserve. “I’m grateful that both daughters I have — from two different marriages — have very capable mothers. Because the mother is the one who is going to teach the girl, I think, how to get around in the world.” Alec shares Ireland with his ex-wife, Kim, and shares Carmen, 5, Rafael, 3, Leonardo, 2, and Romeo, 5 months, with his wife, Hilaria, that he’s been married to since 2012.
