According to a press release, Melania was photographed in "her new residence at the White House." The portrait was taken by Agence France Press photographer Regine Mahaux.
In the photo, the FLOTUS can be seen wearing a fitted black blazer and a matching scarf tied around her neck. Melania's arms-crossed posture also perfectly shows off her 25-carat engagement ring from husband Donald, 70.
The two previously tied the knot at Mr. Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, FL in January 2005. They are now parents to an 11-year-old son, Barron Trump, together.
"I am honored to serve in the role of First Lady, and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years," Melania said in a statement released with the picture.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama had two official portraits taken in the White House during her husband Barack Obama's two terms as president. The first, taken in 2009, featured the FLOTUS standing in the Blue Room in a black, sleeveless dress.
The second was taken in the White House's Green Room in 2013 and showed Michelle clad in a long-sleeved black dress and a pearl necklace. The photo sparked major buzz because the FLOTUS was also sporting her newly-chopped bangs!
