A house becomes a home! Now that the $1.8 million renovation of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s Kensington Palace apartment is finally complete, the expecting parents are adding some very special final touches. “Meghan’s talented with design and passionate about decorating, but since the apartment is so large, they’ve hired an interior designer to help,” a royal insider revealed to Life & Style magazine.

So far, the Duke and Duchess are having a blast picking out sentimental pieces and shopping for furniture. “One of the rooms Meghan is most excited about decorating is the nursery,” said the insider, adding that the notorious foodie is also paying special attention to the dining rooms. (Yes, there’s more than one!) “Meghan and Harry can’t wait to host dinner parties — one of the dining rooms will have a huge table that seats 30 people!”

Despite the apartment’s more traditional feel, Meghan is keeping things on brand by adding her own modern flair… within reason, of course. “She’s going for neutral colors — beiges, creams — and big, fluffy rugs, and cushions to make the place homey,” the insider dished. “They’re also turning one bedroom into a refuge for Meghan’s mom, [Doria Ragland], for when she visits and decorating a number of guest rooms so Meghan’s pals from Toronto and LA can stay. She’s thrilled she now has plenty of space to accommodate them.”

The most amazing feature of their humble abode, however, is a special door that connects their place to Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s apartment next door! “The four of them will get to enjoy double dates without Kate worrying about leaving her kids,” the insider explained. Ummm, that sounds like the sweetest set-up ever.

“[Meghan] can’t wait to start the next chapter of her life having a family in her dream home with Harry,” the insider concluded. We’re just so happy for them!
