Matthew Morrison Reveals the Secret to His Lasting Marriage With Wife Renee Puente: ‘We Are Incredibly Open’

It is quite known that keeping a long and happy marriage in Hollywood is tough, but some celebrities have been successful at it, and they each have their own secrets as to how they did it — Matthew Morrison and his wife Renee Puente have one as well.

“I think we are incredibly, incredibly open and honest with each other,” the 40-year-old Broadway performer exclusively told Closer Weekly before officiated Hello Tushy‘s Funeral For a Tree at Judson Memorial Church in New York on April 25. “You know, we talk about everything. We talk about crushes we have on other people, we talk about not liking each other in certain moments, we talk about everything and we also have rules and as guidelines of the amount of time we will be away from each other.”

“Our limit — the most is 3 weeks, but 2 weeks is kind of like what we really want, but thankfully, she is interior designer and she can do her job from anywhere, so we pretty much travel as a family unit all the time,” the Glee alum explained how they juggle their busy schedules and make time for one another.

As for what the pair does when they find themselves with some time for each other, the actor revealed, “You know, we both love nature and a lot of times we will just take a bottle of wine and go out to like a park or something, maybe get some cheese and crackers and connect with nature and connect with each other as well.”

The couple share one child, 18-month-old son, Revel James Makai — a baby Matthew is crazy about. “He’s great! He’s amazing,” he exclusively shared with Closer recently. “More than that, it’s opened my eyes to really knowing what the word ‘love’ means. My heart is outside of my body now — it’s living in him. It’s a joy,” he added.
