Martha Stewart Didn’t Have ‘a Single Clue’ Who Chip and Joanna Gaines Were When They Met
How is this even possible?! When Chip Gaines and his wife, Joanna Gaines, ran into their idol Martha Stewart at the Time 100 Gala on Tuesday, April 23, the 77-year-old TV personality had no clue who they were.
“We were so excited to meet Martha Stewart, but she didn’t have the faintest idea who we are, not a single clue,” Chip, 44, jokingly explained to Page Six in a new interview. But since Joanna, 41, and her hubby had someone there who could tell Martha how popular they were, everything turned out OK.
“We don’t mind at all,” Chip said about the awkward encounter. “Joanna was so excited to meet Martha and so we asked someone to introduce us.” After they met Martha, Chip and his wife realized she’s everything that they expected her to be. “Martha was very gracious and supportive. It was a really wonderful moment for us to meet her.” he gushed. “And my gosh doesn’t she look great!”
Although Martha didn’t know a lot about the Hollywood couple, she told Page Six that she only knew a few things about the former Fixer Upper stars, like their magazine, The Magnolia Journal. “I had never met Chip and Joanna at all before, but their Magnolia magazine is published by my publisher Meredith, and I know they have a lovely family and a TV station,” she said.
Hopefully Martha did more research on Chip and Joanna after she left the red carpet event because some A-listers have admitted to being big time fans of the couple like singers Jennifer Lopez and Cher.
“I totally fangirled out,” J. Lo, 49, previously recalled on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about getting to FaceTime Joanna one day. “It really blew me away.” Cher, 72, has also said that she likes to call the couple every now and then. “Once in a while I like to check in and see what’s happening with Chip, Joanna and kids,” she admitted via Twitter.
Do you know who Chip and Joanna are now, Martha?!
