It was a performance you didn’t want to miss. Madonna hit the stage at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday, May 1, alongside Colombian reggaeton artist Maluma — and to say they blew us away is a complete understatement!

Madonna, 60, stepped out looking better than ever as she was joined by Maluma, 25, for their performance of “Medellin” in both English and Spanish. The seven-time Grammy winner’s genius collaboration blew the audience and millions of viewers away as the duo went above and beyond.

The performance was like nothing we’ve ever seen before thanks to the use of holograms, which were reported to cost iconic singer $5 million that she paid out of her own pockets, according to TMZ. Madonna and Maluma — who is best known for the song “Chantaje” with Shakira — proved that they made one heck of a collaboration after leaving the audience in a standing applause.

Fans of the Queen of Pop offered the same praise on social media. “WOW!!!! Your stan has been shown how to do it tonight! Your favorite just died and was resurrected and died again watching @Madonna and @maluma slay the world!” one fan wrote on Twitter. “I love this woman so much #BBMAS #MadameX #Medellin #Madonna,” gushed another.

Ahead of the annual awards show, an insider dished some juicy details about Madonna and Maluma’s highly anticipated performance. “It’s one of the most ambitious performances ever attempted on live TV, and obviously a lot could go wrong,” the source told The Sun. “It will require perfect timing and positioning to make sure that she interacts properly with the computer-generated visuals, otherwise it won’t work at all.”

By the looks of it, we don’t think Madonna and Maluma’s performance could have been any better!
