Katie Holmes and Mom Kathleen Are All Hugs and Smiles at the American Ballet Theatre Gala

What a way to bond! Katie Holmes decided to bring quite the date to the American Ballet Theatre recently: her own mom, Kathleen Stothers-Holmes — and the duo were looking great!

On Wednesday, October 16, the actress, 40, and her mother headed out to Lincoln Center in New York City and hit the red carpet. The pair were seen smiling and turned heads everywhere. Not seen with the happy mom and daughter was Katie’s only daughter, Suri Cruise. The Dawson’s Creek shares the teen with her ex-husband Tom Cruise. The ex-couple split in 2012 after being married for six years. At the time of the breakup, the brunette beauty didn’t really have a direction of where she was going next in the love department.

“[I don’t] have a five or 10-year plan,” Katie told More magazine of dating. “I feel like I’m still a teenager in a lot of ways.”

“I do a lot of things I did then. I paint, I color. I cook sometimes. I still feel like a girl. I don’t quite feel like a woman, maybe because I’m the baby of my family. I’ll probably be 90 and feel like, ‘Not a woman yet!’” she added. These days, Katie’s main priority is of course her child — who is growing up quite quickly!

“When I’m not on set, I’m being a mom. I’m doing mom stuff,” the First Daughter star once told Modern Luxury. “When I go to an event, I leave at 10 pm because it’s really important to me to be a mom that is dependable. … I think the most important thing in my life is giving my child the childhood I want her to have. That comes first. That dictates where I work and when I work because it’s my main job right now.”

Suri may not have accompanied her mom to the ballet with her grandmother, but not to worry, because the two were seen out and about in New York City recently, as they both walked during a rainy day. So great to see!
