At least Jerry Seinfeld‘s only daughter, Sascha Seinfeld, 18, doesn’t have to worry about sneaking out to see her boyfriend when they want to hang out. In a new interview with Us Weekly, Jerry admitted that he’s grown to be quite fond of Sascha’s new love interest but teased that “he’s gonna have to go” if he ever breaks her heart.

“We love him so much,” Jerry, 64, gushed to the magazine. His wife, Jessica Seinfeld, 47, added that she and Jerry are both “pretty relaxed” when it comes to parenting. Since Jerry and Jessica were “under-parented” as kids, she revealed that “we don’t over-parent” but if Sascha and their two sons, Julian, 15, and Shepherd, 13, need to be disciplined, they have a great technique that works.

“They have their little nastiness, and they close themselves in their rooms and stuff. But you can just barge in and go, ‘OK. Out of the room, off the screen.’ You can push them around,” Jerry jokingly admitted before adding that he’s “definitely more laid-back” than Jessica when it comes to parenting their three kids.

As a kid, Jerry grew up in Long Island and his parents never knew that he was a prankster until he broke the news to them one day. “I was never funny around my parents,” he shockingly revealed during a recent interview at The New Yorker Festival. “So when I told them I was going to be a comedian, [it was] my gay closet moment: ‘You don’t know this, but I’m funny.’”

Although it took a lot of strength for Jerry to reveal that he wanted to pursue comedy, he recalled that his parents looked right back at him and said, “Oh, OK, good. Do whatever you want.” Jerry later got his big break in 1981 when he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Luckily his kids won’t have to worry about telling him if they want to be a comedian because Jerry is such a cool parent!
