More than five decades after they tied the knot, Ina Garten and her husband, Jeffrey Garten, are more in love than ever! On Monday, Dec. 17, the 70-year-old celebrity chef took to Instagram to post a throwback photo of herself and Jeffrey, 72, on their honeymoon to celebrate their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 22. “Instead of celebrating our 50th Anniversary (yikes!) just on the day (this coming Saturday), Jeffrey and I decided to celebrate it all week long! It’s been an amazing 50 years!!! #LoveOfMyLife,” Ina captioned the black and white photo of the two.
After The Barefoot Contessa star posted the pic, many of her 1.7 million followers sent their well-wishes to the adorable couple. “Wow, congratulations on 50 years! Inspiring!” one person wrote with another similarly adding, “Beautiful couple — then and now.❤️Thanks for sharing so much with us.” See Ina’s sweet anniversary post about Jeffrey below!

During a recent interview with People, Ina gushed about her 50-year marriage to Jeffrey and revealed how their romance blossomed. “He’s just the best friend anybody could ever have,” she said of her husband. Ina also recalled meeting Jeffrey back in 1953 at age 15 while visiting her brother at Dartmouth College, the same University Jeffrey was studying at. “He saw me on the street and then sent me a letter with a photograph of himself in it,” she said. “I just remember running through the house and going, ‘Mom, Mom, you’ve got to see this picture of this guy. He’s so cute!'”
Jeffrey was later sent on an Army deployment to Thailand and the two keep in touch via letter. “I wrote to Ina every single day. During the whole year I was only able to call her once,” he said of their romance. As for why Jeffrey was “The One,” Ina said, “He just thought I was really smart and that I could do anything. He was the first person I knew who thought that about me.” Happy 50th Anniversary, Ina and Jeffrey!
