Megyn Kelly’s First Show Has Left NBC Insiders Confused at the Point of ‘Megyn Kelly Today’
Finally! It seriously felt like we waited years for Megyn Kelly Today to start, and now that it finally began on Monday, Sept. 25, fans are dying to know how Megyn Kelly did on her first show. The truth? NBC insiders are totally confused.
During the talk show’s premiere during the 9 a.m. hour of Today, Megyn, 46, announced that other than some news coverage, the show will not focus on any politics. It’s interesting since Megyn built her career around Washington coverage and even had a very public dispute with President Donald Trump. “They spent all that money on this great political anchor and journalist,” an insider told Page Six. “If you take those things away, what are you paying for?”
Viewers are especially paying attention to the ratings of the show since Megyn’s new series took over for Al Roker and Tamron Hall (who abruptly left the show when news of Megyn joining surfaced). “If it’s a flop, apart from all the other fallout, it’ll be seen as a waste of Al and Tamron,” the source added.
Despite the show being a political-free zone, Megyn came to peace with her past ahead of the show’s premiere — and even revealed that she made the bold move from Fox News to Today so she could spend more time with her kids. “Two of my kids were in school during the exact hours that I was at home. They would get back at 3:30 p.m. just as I’d be leaving to do The Kelly File. I hadn’t tucked them into bed on a weeknight in three years,” Megyn said. “It was time to do a gut check, to make sure I was happy and doing what I’m supposed to. The answer was clearly no. It was time to make a change.”
And now, she’s only looking ahead when it comes to her family and career success. “The hard times remind you it’s possible to do better,” she said. “Today, I look at the future and see unlimited opportunity.” We can’t wait to continue to watch Megyn on weekday mornings!
