Hoda Kotb Celebrates 6 Year Anniversary With ‘Incredible’ Longtime Boyfriend Joel Schiffman
It seems like Hoda Kotb has been walking on sunshine lately! Less than two months after she adopted a second child, the beloved Today show host is celebrating another exciting milestone. On Wednesday, June 5, Hoda took to Instagram to share a sweet post in honor of her six-year anniversary with her longtime boyfriend, Joel Schiffman, the day prior.
“Yesterday marked six years with this incredible man,” the 54-year-old beauty gushed in the caption of a picture-perfect photo of them smiling ear to ear. “Six years … two children … two new jobs … one grateful heart.” Hoda sweetly added, “P.S. thank you @jolamathisen and #tyler … if it weren’t for you two … we never would have met on that night.” Aww!
A lot has changed since Hoda began dating Joel, 61, in 2013. Besides her career taking off, the TV personality became a mom times two. In 2017, the couple adopted their first baby girl, Haley Joy. This past April, they gave 2-year-old Haley a baby sister by adopting their second little girl, Hope Catherine.
Hoda first considered adoption years ago after her treatment for breast cancer left her unable to conceive. While paying a visit to The Wendy Williams Show this past March, Hoda opened up about Joel’s supportive reaction when she brought up the conversation of wanting kids for the first time.
“I wanted to be a mom and I kept thinking today is the day and I went to Joel and I said to him, ‘I need to discuss something with you and it’s very important,'” Hoda explained to Wendy Williams about her financier beau at the time. “I said, ‘I want you not to answer me now. I want you to marinate. I want you to take a week, take a month, take as long as you need.’ And he looked at me like he was terrified. And I said, ‘There’s a feeling inside that I can’t quiet anymore and I have to say it out loud and I’m going to say it.'”
Hoda then explained how she mustered up all of her courage to tell Joel how she truly felt about having kids. “I said, ‘I want to explore adoption with you,'” she recalled. “He said, ‘I don’t need a minute.’ I cried on his chest and my mascara went down because in that minute he knew that there was nothing that could make me happier.”
Although Hoda and Joel aren’t married, the You Are My Happy author knows that her man is in it for the long haul. “Joel is not only a great life partner, he will be with me the rest of my life,” she once gushed to Entertainment Tonight. “I have no doubt he’s an unbelievable father to Haley. He literally comes home and says, ‘Is she sleeping? Oh no, did I miss her?’ And when she says ‘Dada’ and stumbles over to him, I don’t know that there’s a sweeter sound.”
