Scary stuff! George Clooney is finally revealing the brutal details of a motorcycle accident he suffered in 2018 while in Italy.

“I hit him at 70 miles per hour, so it was bad,” the 58-year-old recently told The Hollywood Reporter‘s First Look. “I split my helmet in half. It knocked me out of my shoes, it hit hard.” In fact, the crash was so rough that the Oscar winner even believed he would die, as his head took most of the impact.

“It was bad and I was waiting for the switch to turn off because I broke his windshield with my head,” the Ocean’s Eleven costar recalled. “I thought, ‘Okay, well, that’s my neck.’” He added, “If you get nine lives, I’ve got all of them used up, so I can let go of motorcycle riding for a while.” Producer and close pal Grant Heslov, also remembered holding his pal in his arms following the accident.

“I made a deal as I was holding him waiting for the ambulance,” Grant explained to the outlet. “I said to myself, ‘If he lives, I’ll never ride a motorcycle again.’”

“It got both Grant and I — after 40 years of riding together — off of motorcycles for good,” George shared. However, the ER alum was also told by his wife, Amal, that his riding days are over.

“I’m not allowed to ride motorcycles” George said during a Catch-22 panel at the DGT Theater in New York City on May 1. “I got into a really bad accident. … Got launched. And so that’s, I’m off of bikes.” He continued, “Grant’s off. We screwed up and our wives were like, ‘You can never get on a bike again.’”

At the time, Amal, 41, was not happy at all about the situation. “While George is blowing it off as no big deal, Amal is furious,” an insider exclusively told Closer Weekly. “She and his friends have been wanting him to get rid of that scooter. His mother even called him to admonish him about it, that she’s been wanting him to get rid of it, too.”

We just hope that George stays safe moving forward!
