Elle, 54, recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live where she dished on her past relationship with the “Piano Man” to host Andy Cohen. During the sit-down, she shared that the two were living together in the 1980s in Manhattan’s Upper West Side — until Christie unintentionally put a kibosh on it, that is.
“Billy Joel said in his autobiography that he brought Christie Brinkley back to his penthouse and you were there waiting for him. What happened that night and how do you look back on your relationship?” a fan asked Elle during the talk show on Thursday, Sept. 27.
Elle responded, “I think he was dating Christie at the time, just starting to. So yeah, I got ousted, what can I say?” At least she admits it!
Billy, 69, chronicled the moment he and Christie were awkwardly greeted by Elle that night in Manhattan. “Part of me thought, ‘Oh God,'” he wrote in Billy Joel: The Definitive Autobiography. “Another part of me was going, ‘Holy crap, if my friends could see me now!'”
The “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant” singer famously went on to marry Christie in 1985 and the two were husband and wife until their divorce in 1994. They are parents to a 32-year-old daughter, Alexa Ray, together.
Back when the music icon released his song “Uptown Girl” in 1983, many thought it was about Christie. But Elle thinks otherwise. “I think it’s [about] all the uptown girls, put it that way,” she shared adding, “he liked tall girls.” Too funny!
