Just because Christie Brinkley won’t be able to compete in Season 28 of Dancing With the Stars, doesn’t mean that all is lost. Due to a broken arm that she suffered during rehearsals, her daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook has offered to step in for her mom and win the competitive series on her behalf.

“Keeping it all in the family, her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, a Sports Illustrated model, has chosen to quickly step in with hours to learn the entire routine and will compete in her mother’s place for the remainder of the season,” the PR team for Dancing With the Stars recently said in a statement. “We wish Christie a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her in the audience, whenever possible, proudly supporting Sailor.”

Christie, 65, has no doubts in her mind that Sailor, 21, will do a good job on Dancing With the Stars too. “Showbiz is all about getting a break, and Sailor and I both got one on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this season,” the mom of three said in another statement, according to Good Morning America.  “Sailor joined the cast when I got mine … ouch somebody stop me, it hurts to laugh!”

Sailor also talked about taking her mother’s place in the show and what it means for her to win the competition. “I’m doing this mostly for my mom! I just want to make her happy and make her proud,” she gushed to GMA. “She loved doing this, she loves dancing and she loves performing and getting hurt was her worst nightmare.”

Dancing With the Stars premieres on Monday, September 16, at 8:00 p.m. ET, and we can’t wait to see Sailor’s all-star performance.

“I felt this high of just attacking something I was so afraid of and it felt like something I need to do,” the young model explained about taking on a new challenge. “I think it will change me.”
