Did Ellen Pompeo get plastic surgery? The actress rose to fame on the hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy and has now played Dr. Meredith Grey for a whopping 18 seasons. Understandably, Ellen looks much different today than when she first started on Grey’s — but is it possible the reason for her changing looks is the result of surgery?
“The only thing that I can catch is possibly a facelift and a neck lift,” Dr. Vartan Mardirossian, boar-certified facial plastic surgeon and world renowned facial feminization surgeon, who has never treated the actress, exclusively told Closer Weekly of Ellen’s appearance.
Dr. Andrew Miller, board certified facial plastic surgeon who has also never treated the star, agreed that while Ellen might have had work done, she hasn’t gotten Botox. “Her eyelids look naturally aged, and you can see some wrinkles on the forehead and crow’s feet, so no Botox,” he said.
In the past, Ellen has candidly spoken out about aging in Hollywood and the influence it has had on her career. She opened up to People in 2016 about the difficulty of seeing herself grow older onscreen on Grey’s.
“Watching myself age on TV is miserable. To be honest, it’s the toughest part of my job,” she admitted. “But as uncomfortable as watching myself age is, I don’t think focusing on physical beauty is necessarily the best thing for your mind. It’s a natural thing that we all do, but I don’t think it’s the healthiest thing. The older you get, the more you realize life isn’t about your looks. Everyone ages, and it’s OK.”
Ellen spoke out again in 2020 about how it’s been tough to watch herself play Meredith over the course of 17 seasons.
“To watch myself age from 33 to 50 now on screen, that’s not so fun. Because you really see it, because I’m in the same clothes, I’m in the same character. So the way I see myself aging, that’s a motherf—ker,” she revealed on Dax Shepard‘s Armchair Expert podcast.
Ellen then revealed that she hasn’t “put anything” in her famous visage. “I think the overall goal of my life is to always keep my ego in check. I don’t want to tell myself lies, I don’t lie about my age, I don’t put anything in my face,” she said.
