Congratulations are in order! David Cassidy‘s daughter, Katie Cassidy, got married over the weekend, just one year after her father’s untimely death from liver failure at age 67.

“I can’t help falling in love with you… YES!” she captioned a photo of herself and her new husband, Matthew Rodgers, on their wedding day in Sunset Key, FL. “It’s official! #MrsRodgers I love you, my husband.”

…always on my mind

The duo previously got engaged in June 2017. “I can’t wait to spend forever with you my darling!!” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I’m the luckiest girl in the whole world.”

David previously welcomed Katie, 32, in November 1986 with his former lover, Sherry Williams. He’s also a dad to a 27-year-old son, Beau, with his ex-wife, Sue Shifrin, whom he was married to from 1991 until 2016. Katie’s father sadly wasn’t there to walk her down the aisle, and in a plethora of previous interviews, both she and the singer have been open about their estranged relationship.

“I wasn’t her father. I was her biological father but I didn’t raise her. She has a completely different life,” David once admitted to People. “[But] I’m proud of her. She’s very talented.”

After David’s passing, Katie opened up about her late father. “My dad was a wonderful, wonderful person. Sadly, he had some demons. There is a silver lining in all of that. You live and learn and it has brought my family closer together so I’m grateful for that,” she told Us Weekly at the time.

“I didn’t meet my father until I was in the fourth grade,” she continued. “The world doesn’t know that. Not because I’m hiding it, it just hasn’t been discussed. My biological father and I had a really good relationship at one point. He was one of my close friends and gave me wonderful advice.” He would be so proud of the newly-married woman she is today!
