Today is a bittersweet one for Carson DalyThe Voice host is celebrating what would have been his mom’s 75th birthday by opening up about what they would be doing with her if she was still with him. Carson, 45, took to Instagram with an oh-so-sweet and tribute post in honor of Pattie Daly Caruso.

“Mom would have been the big 75 today,” Carson wrote alongside a photo of him and his sister, Quinn Daly. “As I told my sister this morning, I’m still in total denial & pain on calling her later. We’ll celebrate tonight w her classic fried chicken, tons of red vino & peanut butter cookies! And her grand babies of course. Love you mom! happy bday & Talk later.”

Pattie died of a heart attack nearly a year and a half ago on September 17, 2017. Carson — a dad-of-three to Jackson, 10, Etta, 6, and London, 4 — has opened up in the past about how his mom’s death has affected him. Earlier this week he said it has actually made him “scared” to love his kids too much.

Fans flocked to the comments to send their thoughts for Carson and let him know that his family was in their thoughts and prayers. One on Twitter even asked him if he could share his mom’s fried chicken recipe. In a reply, Carson called this a “good idea” and promised to post it later but did let them know just how good it was by calling it the “real deal.”

Just last month, for American Heart Month, Carson revealed that he never expected his mom would have heart attack and how it took him by surprise when he got that call. He said she never showed any signs that this could have happened and is using her story to raise awareness to the silent killer.

“My mom and I had a special relationship. We were very, very close. She lived every day like it was her last. She had a saying, ‘Go big or don’t go at all,'” Carson revealed in a Today segment. “I don’t know how to articulate my relationship with my mom. The love was so strong that the hurt was so strong.”

Our thoughts go out to Carson and the entire family.
