Hilaria Baldwin Reveals Husband Alec Is “Old School” When It Comes to Parenting
Since marrying back in June 2012, Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin have welcomed three (soon to be four!) kids. While the two share parenting duties, it's not always equal, according to Hilaria. "[Alec]’s a little bit more old school," the 34-year-old recently revealed. "'You’re the mom, you take care of the kids, and then I will come and go and I will read a book with them every once in a while' kind of thing."
But despite their differing expectations in the roles they fill in the house, the yoga and fitness expert does realize that sometimes it's important to make time for just the two of them. "I’m the kind of person where I could get so wrapped up in my kids and I could lose my relationship a little bit and just assume, ‘Don’t you love doing this too? Isn’t this so much fun?'" she explained to Daphne Oz and LaTonya Yvette during a recent discussion with People.
Even though Alec and Hilaria have so many kids below the age of five running around the house, they always find time for date night. "Most nights, we have date night, which could mean we’re doing a puzzle," she continued. "On Valentine’s Day, we ordered takeout. My husband had just gotten his hip replaced. We walked, on one of his first [post-surgery] walks, to go get food, and we ate it out of the plastic. And then we looked at each other like, 'Can we go to bed now?'"
Hilaria credits their 26-year age difference for forcing them to prioritize the important things in their relationship and as parents. Despite their differing views on how to split the parenting roles, clearly, they've made it work!
