Only in the new issue of Closer Weekly, Shayne Lamas and Nik Richie exclusively share the first photos of their baby boy, Lyon Lamas-Richie, who was born via surrogate on July 4.
As Closer exclusively revealed in February, Shayne’s stepmother — and Lorenzo Lamas’ wife, Shawna Craig, 29 — carried the baby for her stepdaughter, who was unable to have children following a near-fatal ectopic pregnancy in 2014.
“I’m so happy for my daughter and son-in-law, because they wanted another child really badly,” Lorenzo gushed to Closer in an exclusive interview. “I was happy that we were able to help them accomplish that.” Added Shawna: “We all feel a little more complete now that Lyon is here and growing and doing well.”
“I was shocked that my dad was on board with this, to be 100 percent honest,” says Shayne. “But I’ll always be grateful.”

Although the delivery went smoothly, Shawna suffered an unexpected emergency soon after. She had ruptured a blood vessel and was rapidly losing blood. “I thought I was going to die,” Shawna remembers. “I was so scared. I was freaking out. I thought, I gave this gift to my family and now I am going to bleed to death. One life in, one life out.”
Thankfully the crisis ended as quickly as it began, and Shawna was soon recovering. Despite the complications, Shawna tells Closer, “I would do it again in a heartbeat!”
“I’m glad we did it,” Lorenzo reveals to Closer. “Shawna wanted the experience of having a baby. I was glad that she got to do that — and that it wasn’t ours!”
“It’s complete closure for us,” explains Nik, who mourned with his wife over the son they lost in-utero last year. “It allows us to continue our legacy as a family.” Adds Shayne: “It was the biggest blessing in the world.”
