Is there anything this woman can’t do? Oprah Winfrey attended the royal wedding on May 19 looking like a total stunner. In fact, her outfit is eerily reminiscent of the ensemble Meghan Markle stepped out in on May 22 for her first royal obligation. Funny enough, however, Oprah’s getup was supposed to be something entirely different!
The 64-year-old mogul took to Instagram on May 22 to thank Stella McCartney — who designed her dress — and explain what could have been a serious fashion disaster. “[I] realized Friday morning the beige dress I was planning to wear to royal ceremony would photograph too ‘white’ for a wedding. [Stella’s] team did this overnite [SIC]. Hat is vintage @philiptreacy been in my closet since 2005 with new feathers. OMG was this an extraordinary day!” the billionaire gushed.

Oprah wasn’t the only guest in attendance to repurpose some items from her closet — Kate Middleton also recycled her royal wares! For the nuptials, the Duchess of Cambridge wore her off-white Alexander McQueen coat dress. She paired the frock with a fascinator of the same color, adorned with big, white roses. She also donned a pair of nude pumps. Kate has worn this very outfit three times since July 2015. Recycled clothing or not, both Kate and Oprah looked amazing.
That said, people have continued to express confusion over Oprah’s wedding invite. “Oprah is at the royal wedding. Why did I laugh?” one user wrote on Twitter the day of the event. “Why is Oprah at the royal wedding? Someone explain the connection please,” another user commented.
While the connection remains unclear, sources are suggesting that Oprah is planning a “groundbreaking” interview with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. In fact, an anonymous source told The Mirror that the two spent a long time chatting during the reception and "got on really well."
