She nailed it! Just three days after she said “I do” to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle stepped out for the very first time as the Duchess of Sussex — and she looked amazing. Meghan and Harry made their first appearance together as a couple during a garden party at Buckingham Palace in honor of her new father-in-law, Prince Charles‘ 70th birthday — and she even took a page out of her new sister-in-law Kate Middleton‘s style book!

Meghan really pulled off her look for her first official outing as a royal. She chose a pale pink and white knee-length dress with sheer long sleeves. She accessorized her look with a matching pale pink hat that sat on top of her sleek low-bun hairstyle — and taking a nod from Kate, Meghan opted to wear nude pantyhose with the ensemble. Even though many fashion critics say nude tights make women look dated and dowdy, according to People, it still is a fashion staple in a royal lady’s wardrobe. And Meghan definitely did not look dowdy as she laughed and smiled standing next to Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles.

Even though Prince Charles’ birthday is not until Nov. 14, the palace decided to hold various celebrations for him throughout the year, starting as early as six months in advance, according to Metro. The garden party was meant to honor Charles’ charity work, patronages, and military affiliations. Since the garden party fell on May 22, which is the one year anniversary of the Manchester bombing, it also served as an event to honor the first responders who helped save people during the terrorist attack.

Prince Harry and Meghan specifically postponed their honeymoon so that they could attend her new father-in-law’s birthday celebration, and the garden party will be the first in a series of royal engagements that Harry and Meghan are set to attend in the coming weeks. According to a report by Express UK, Harry and Meghan won’t go on their honeymoon until the fall, and the Daily Mail reported that they will be traveling to Nambia.

“Contrary to reports suggesting that [Harry] will whisk Meghan off to the Caribbean after the wedding on May 19, I hear he will instead turn to luxury lodge company Natural Selection to organize an adventure in the huge south-west African country,” a source close to the couple revealed.
