Whoa, we weren't ready for this!
Many people are wondering what happened on Scandal last night after social media blew up with fan comments about the crazy new "Trojan Horse" episode. Lucky for you, we've got all the details on the hit political thriller's latest installment.
During the episode, a fan-favorite character sadly and unexpectedly died. The Vice President's Chief of Staff, Elizabeth "Lizzie" North — portrayed by Portia de Rossi — was killed off the ABC series by Season 6's "Mystery Woman" villain, who is played by Zoe Perry.

Portia previously joined Scandal as a show regular in Season 4 and recently revealed her decision to leave the popular drama. "I am incredibly grateful for my time here at Scandal,” the 44-year-old actress said in a statement.
"I will miss playing Elizabeth North but I’ve made the decision to focus on a business opportunity," she continued. "[The show creators] and the cast have been incredibly supportive of my decision. I will always love my Scandal family. I’ll be watching!"
Following Portia's departure, executive producer Shonda Rhimes similarly released a statement praising the star's performance on the series. "I have been a fan of Portia’s for years and it was an honor to have her join our Scandal family," she began.

"Portia infused Liz North with a smart, powerful, vulnerable soul while also making the humor sing — and that brought all of us in the writers room a lot of joy. If I could keep her forever, I would — but kidnapping is illegal. Besides, I am incredibly impressed with the vision she has for her creative future. I wish her all the best," Shonda added.
After last night's episode premiered on ABC, Portia's wife, Ellen DeGeneres, took to Twitter to comment on Lizzie's death. "I’m proud of my wife for her epic performance on Scandal. I will miss Lizzie Bear, but I’m glad Portia Bear is sitting right next to me," Ellen wrote.
