Patrick J. Adams Is Returning for the Final Season of ‘Suits’ — But What About Meghan Markle?
Even though he left Suits along with Meghan Markle at the end of season 7, Patrick J. Adams is making a return for season 9 — the show’s final season. Given that news, it only makes sense that we ask one question: Will we see baby Archie’s mom return, too?
A source confirms to Closer Weekly that Patrick, 37, will be returning for “multiple” episodes as Mike Ross for Suits‘ last go ’round. As for Meghan, also 37, it’s unlikely we’ll see Rachel Zane back before the case is closed for good on this legal drama. Yes, even though the pair’s characters are married and left right after their wedding.
Our insider adds that Suits creator Aaron Korsh would love for the Duchess of Sussex to return — ratings would go through the roof, after all — but it’s not going to happen. This despite the fact that Meghan misses her acting career because she has moved on with her life and she is busy being a new mom to her son with Prince Harry.
These plans were discussed during the Television Critics Association press tour earlier this year. Aaron was hopeful about Patrick coming back at the time, indicating that it was a matter of ironing out details. As for Meghan, he was pretty certain that wouldn’t happen and called the chances of it “pretty close to zero.”
What we will get instead will be Patrick reuniting with longtime costars like Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman and Sarah Rafferty. In addition, he’ll also share the small screen with Amanda Schull, Dulé Hill, and Katherine Heigl. Elsewhere, Gina Torres will reprise the character she played on Suits, Jessica Pearson, with her own spinoff premiering this summer.
We hope there’s some way Meghan join Patrick to help viewers say goodbye!
Suits‘ 10-episode final season premieres Wednesday, July 17, at 9 p.m. ET on USA. Then, stick around for its spinoff, Pearson, airing right after.
