Sharna Burgess Admits She’s ‘Excited’ To Have Time Off After ABC Announces ‘DWTS’ Isn’t Returning Next Spring
While she isn’t ready to hang up her dancing shoes just yet, Dancing With The Stars Season 27 winner Sharna Burgess is looking forward to some off time. This confession comes after ABC recently announced that the hit show wouldn’t be returning for a season in early 2019.
“For me, I’m really excited to have my holiday season and the spring off,” Sharna admitted to ET! on Dec. 14. “I have some other projects that I’m working on that allows me to put time and passion into those which is really, really awesome.”
As she looks forward to having some well-deserved downtime after taking home the Mirror Ball trophy with her partner, Bobby Bones, DWTS fans are shaking in their boots regarding the future of the beloved show. “You know what, it doesn’t worry me. I think it’s actually going to be awesome for people to miss us for a little second,” Sharna admitted.
The 33-year-old also pointed out that there was a ton of DWTS this year “between the tours, and Juniors, and Athletes, and then the fall season, and all the controversy that surrounded it.” Sharna added, “I think it will be really, really cool for us to have a little breather in the spring, come back, and do an amazing fall season.”
The professional dancer revealed that although DWTS isn’t returning for the spring, Sharna thinks that “they’re still talking about Juniors though,” she said of the DWTS spin-off featuring young professional dancers and young celebrities. “Don’t quote me on that, I have no inside information. But, they may still try and do that cause it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. And I hope they do do it.”
Sharna even dished that she already can’t wait for DWTS in the fall, despite looking forward to the off time in the spring. “Yeah, absolutely, I wouldn’t miss it,” the red-headed beauty revealed when asked if she would be on the next season. “DWTS is my family and just because I won it’s not like I’m done with it.”
In fact, Sharna said she’s ready to make her return to the stage with a plan. “I’m coming back for back-to-back wins this time,” she jokingly admitted. We can’t wait!
