Selma Blair Has A Tearful Reunion With Her Horse After MS Prevented Her From Riding — See The Pics!
It’s been almost two months since Selma Blair revealed that she has multiple sclerosis (MS), and the actress is finally getting back on her horse — both literally and figuratively. The Hellboy star had an emotional reunion over the weekend with the trusty steed after MS symptoms prevented her from riding.
“This happened,” the 46-year-old wrote in the caption of a photo she shared to Instagram on Dec. 17. “My magical unicorn, #MrNibbles, held my body while I broke open with gratitude. I haven’t been able to ride for four months or more. I haven’t been able to get to him, so my saint of a trainer, @kjrides, brought him to me.” See the heartwarming photos below.
Even though the reunion didn’t include Selma taking Mr. Nibbles show jumping, just being able to feel her body rest on the back of her horse was enough to make the brunette beauty burst into tears. “It was a fairytale. My horse in my front yard, with more emotions than these words, can hold,” she continued.
In the photo, Selma can be seen embracing the majestic creature as she sheds tears in the background. “The gratitude. Thank you #CellarDoorEquestrian for knowing when I needed you the most. I will heal. I will ride,” she said before mentioning that she will hold onto the feeling of riding her horse whenever she needs a pick-me-up.
Selma first revealed that she has MS on Oct. 20, just two months after getting word from her doctor. “I have #mMultipleSclerosis. I am in an exacerbation,” she wrote on Instagram. “By the grace of the lord, and willpower and the understanding producers at Netflix, I have a job. A wonderful job. I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken GPS. But we are doing it. And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.”
Perhaps the actress hoped her forthcoming would inspire others when it comes to battling the exhausting disease. “I am in the thick of it but I hope to give some hope to others,” she continued. “And even to myself. You can’t get help unless you ask. It can be overwhelming in the beginning. You want to sleep. You always want to sleep. So I don’t have answers.”
With the holiday season in full swing, we can’t imagine how difficult it may be for Selma to celebrate the merry season for the first time since revealing her diagnosis. For Thanksgiving last month, Selma updated fans on her health condition. “I stayed home. It was the right place for me today,” she said of her holiday plans. “And tears came. I have been grieving recently. For the things I took for granted.”
Even though she may be battling a disheartening disease, Selma knows that she will always have the support of her fans. “We all have something. Now how do we handle it? What do we do when the news is old but dramatically altering our lives every day?” she asked in her post. “Still grateful.” We hope the actress has a happy and fulfilling holiday season!
