England’s Royal Family Is Quite Interesting — Check out 14 Fun Facts!

If you think you know everything about the royal family, think again! Between Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and the rest of the British monarchy, there are plenty of things we don't know about the royals.

And now that Meghan Markle has officially joined the brood after marrying Prince Harry on Saturday, May 19, royal fans are even more curious about them. When it comes to the new Duchess of Sussex, there are a lot of things many might not know about her.

For starters, she is biracial — and proud of it! "My dad is Caucasian and my mom is African American… I have come to embrace [it, and] to say who I am, to share where I'm from, to voice my pride in being a strong, confident mixed-race woman," Meghan said in a previous interview. Her mom, Doria Ragland, is a therapist and yoga instructor, and her father, Thomas Markle, is a former lighting director.

What many people also don't know about Meghan is that her real name isn't even Meghan! The 36-year-old's full name is Rachel Meghan Markle, but now that she's married to Prince Harry, perhaps it will become Rachel Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor. It has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

While Meghan was a successful actress before she met Harry (we'll be binge-watching Suits if you need us), you should also know she was the second UK royal bride with a college degree (the first was Kate Middleton!). Meghan attended Northwestern University and was in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. In 2003, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in theater and international studies. In college, she also participated in a lot of charity events.
