Richard Gere and Padma Lakshmi have decided to go their separate ways after dating six months, reports confirm.
Not only did the "Top Chef" host recently confirm she's single in a television interview, but a Page Six source adds the pair "decided they would be better as friends” after both became consumed with work.
Padma was busy filming the cooking competition this summer in Boston while Richard was shooting on the streets of New York City for his film, "Time Out of Mind."
The 64-year-old, who split a year ago from wife Carey Lowell, claimed last week that the separation was actually beneficial for his role playing a homeless man attempting to reconnect with his daughter.
"What probably really helped was I was right in the middle of a divorce, so the emotions were right on the surface," the actor shared while speaking at the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
Sources previously told Closer that Richard and Carey have a remained a family unit for the sake of their 14-year-old son, Homer.
“They are great parents,” the insider told the mag in January, “and they want to make his life as normal as possible. There is a lot of love and respect there."
Page Six was the first to report the break-up.
