Even Queen Elizabeth has her own secrets and, as far as we know, none of them are dark. For example, Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, exclusively told Closer Weekly in the magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands now, that the monarch never likes to waste money.

“She regularly wanders around the corridors of her homes switching off electric lights,” Paul said, and added that the queen doesn’t even like to waste “paper, ribbons and rubber bands.”

Queen Elizabeth is also a very simple woman too. “One day she could be at Buckingham Palace eating off fine china, the next she could be [in Scotland] eating from a plastic Tupperware container,” Darren McGrady, her chef and author of Eating Royally: Recipes and Remembrances From a Palace Kitchen, revealed to Closer. “The queen eats to live, not lives to eat. She’s not a real foodie.”

However, she does go mad for chocolate. “She loves anything with dark chocolate,” he said.

Many royal fans probably think they know everything that there is to know about the queen, but Angela Kelly, the queen’s longtime confidante, is ready to prove everyone wrong. Her new tell-all book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, will reveal all of Queen Elizabeth’s most fun secrets — like her love for comedy.

“The queen has a wicked sense of humor and is a great mimic. She can do all accents — including mine!” Kelly gushed. Paul agreed. “She can enthrall the entire household with a perfect accent, whether it be from Scotland or the East End of London,” he added.

With so many hidden talents, its hard not to love Her Majesty. “I love the queen and everything about her,” Kelly couldn’t help but say. Plus, the best part about being so close to the monarch is that she can tell how much Queen Elizabeth’s fans really love her.

“I love seeing the faces of the public when they meet the queen, and when she gives them that special smile,” Kelly concluded. “It makes me feel so proud of her.”
