It’s no secret Meghan Markle isn’t your typical royal, and she has proven time and time again that her goal is to do things quite differently. That apparently starts with making sure she raises her first child as a vegan — although that’s one point that may not stick.

“Meghan is continuing to ruffle feathers in the palace after telling Queen [Elizabeth] that she wants the baby to be vegan,” an insider exclusively tells Closer Weekly. “She sent the palace’s chef a list of rules when it comes to feeding her baby and it has not gone down well with the queen.”

While the monarch, 92, should be the first person notified of all decisions, that wasn’t exactly the case. Our source reveals that the queen learned of the 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex’s hopes from staff.

“There aren’t any strict vegans in the royal family and the queen wants to keep it that way!” the insider continues. “She doesn’t think it’s right for the baby to be brought up on a purely plant-based diet.” Prince Philip‘s wife may not see eye-to-eye with the former actress, but she hopes that her mind will change — and soon.

“Like many first-time moms, Meghan wants everything to be perfect and has very strict ideas about how the baby will be raised,” the source adds. “The queen is hoping that once Meghan gives birth she’ll come to her senses and realize that the baby should have a broader diet.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve learned of the Suits alum’s desire to put her kid on a healthy route. A friend of Prince Harry‘s wife once told People: “She’s being mindful of what she puts in her body and on her skin and even her at-home cleaning supplies. She’s hyperaware of what she’s using. She’s looking for natural things. She eats cleaner, and she’ll probably make her own baby food,” they continued. “It’s going to be clean living for this baby.”

Regardless of the case, it certainly seems like Meghan wants her baby to be extra healthy — and there’s nothing wrong with that!
