Plenty of people, some more familiar than others, attended the George H.W. Bush memorial at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. Among the crowd were the five living presidents: current president Donald Trump, as well as former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter. And while he was never president, even Bob Dole made an appearance to pay his last respects to his friend. Since everyone was distracted by all of these cameos, we all completely missed that Prince Charles himself also decided to attend the funeral.

Charles, who recently turned 70-years-old, flew to Washington, D.C. with his wife, 71-year-old Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to also pay tribute to the 41st president. Charles was in attendance to represent his mother, Queen Elizabeth. In fact, the Queen recently released a statement where she described George H.W. as a “great friend.” “It was with sadness that I learned of the death of President George H W Bush last night,” the 92-year-old said in the statement. “President Bush was a great friend and ally of the United Kingdom. He was also a patriot, serving his country with honor and distinction in Office and during the Second World War,” the Queen continued. “Prince Philip and I remember our days in Texas in 1991 with great fondness. My thoughts and prayers are with President Bush’s family and the American people.”

The Queen’s statement of course wasn’t the only touching tribute that people made about George H.W., as many poured in after news of the former president’s passing spread. One of those tributes was from George H.W.’s own grandchild, Jenna Bush Hager. “Waking up missing this giant of a man who gave me everything,” Jenna wrote on an Instagram caption that accompanied a photo of her with her sister and her grandfather. “He taught me and my family about service, family, decency, the power of gentle words and a beautiful heart. I will miss him desperately but so happy he and my Grandmother are back together.”
