Prince Charles And Meghan Markle Reportedly Bonded Over Their Dysfunctional Families

Prince Harry isn’t the only royal family member who adores Meghan Markle! According to a new report, Prince Charles couldn’t love his new daughter-in-law more, and they have a very sweet daughter-in-law and father-in-law bond. Meghan and Prince Charles have even gotten closer over the summer amid Meghan’s father Thomas Markle’s media outbursts, according to the Mail on Sunday, because Thomas can relate to Meghan since he also comes from a dysfunctional family dynamic.

“Because there’s been bad behavior that’s caused problems in his family, Charles understands how difficult it must be for Meghan. And it has endeared her to him even more,” a royal insider revealed to the Mail on Sunday.

Prince Charles also recognized that, just like he did in his past, Meghan has dealt with “so many traumas and crises… and many divorces,” and he was very impressed with the way she handled herself with dignity throughout the embarrassment of her father’s tell-all interviews.

Sources close to Prince Charles also pointed out that Meghan’s reaction to her father in the press was very similar to the way Charles handled all of the criticism he received during his cheating scandal and subsequent divorce from Princess Diana. “Whatever they felt inside, they’ve both put on a strong public face and not hidden away,” another insider said.

Details about Meghan and Prince Charles’ sweet relationship were revealed in royal biographer Robert Jobson’s recently released book, Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes, and Dreams.

“She is so intelligent and so nice. She makes Harry happy. We could not like her more,” Charles, 69, has reportedly been telling friends, according to an excerpt recently published by the Daily Mail.

Meghan, 37, reportedly feels just the same about Charles. “When Meghan met the Prince of Wales, she was bowled over by his gentlemanly charm. She told Prince Harry he was wonderful; welcoming, warm, hard-working, kind, and stable. She made it clear that he should appreciate him and bond more,” Jobson wrote in his book, adding that the Duchess of Sussex also often goes to Charles for advice when needed. 

A few months ago, Vanity Fair‘s royal reporter Katie Nicholl similarly revealed that Charles is “closer to Harry than ever” and has a “lovely relationship with the Duchess” ever since Harry and Meghan tied the knot this past May. “The wedding was a real turning point. Charles showed so much love towards Harry and Meghan, and I think Harry will be eternally grateful to his Papa for stepping in and giving Meghan’s hand in marriage. The bond between them is very close,” Nicholl shared in September.

“Meghan’s first priority was winning over her future father-in-law. At first, Harry couldn’t believe she was going to so much effort, but the more time they spent with Charles, the more Harry realized he must bury the hatchet. Harry was very touched by how welcoming Charles was to Meghan who, though confident, must have found adapting to royal life hugely intimidating. Charles played a huge part in making her feel at home,” a palace source told Nicholl.

“[He] has been very supportive of Meghan and everything she is going through with her own father,” the insider said. “He’s got a real soft spot for her and thinks she’s the best thing to have happened to Harry.” How sweet!
