Actress Nicole Kidman is arguably the modern-day Grace Kelly, but she doesn’t agree. In fact, the blonde beauty doesn’t even like to call herself famous.

The 51-year-old still gets nervous on her first day of shooting and won’t think of herself as a movie star despite her plethora of lead roles, awards, and more. “I’m not quite sure what it is,” she told Variety in a new interview. “I’m strange. So what other people go is totally strange, I don’t find strange.”

This isn’t the first time Nicole has been so humble about her success. When speaking with Allure this month, she echoed this confession. “I don’t see myself as a celebrity. I’m not a celebrity. I’m not a movie star,” Nicole insisted. “I feel like I’m an actor. Beyoncé is a celebrity. And that’s a much bigger thing.”

The mom-of-four and wife of Keith Urban also admitted that she didn’t always want to be an actress. “I loved the idea of being a nun,” the Boy Erased star gushed. “I’m spiritual in that I absolutely believe in God. Obviously, I did not choose to go that path, but I was very drawn to it.”

Nicole has been in the movie business for decades, and even though being in the spotlight can cause one to have to make sacrifices, she’s admitted that she’ll especially make them for her family. “That’s our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love,” she told ET on the 2018 Hollywood Film Awards red carpet on Nov. 4. “Everything is motivated by wanting to take care of your children and carve a path for them and leave them with a sense of morality, dignity, and accountability.”

“I want to be a good wife and a good mother, so that requires giving up things I want sometimes,” Nicole, who is a mom to two adopted adult children, Isabella and Connor, with Tom Cruise, and two young daughters, Faith and Sunday, with Keith. We bet they all consider their mom to be a movie star even if she doesn’t!
