Happy Birthday, Meghan Markle! The Duchess of Sussex rang in her 37th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 4 and the royal family wrote the sweetest messages to Meghan on the monarchy’s many social media accounts.

“Happy Birthday to HRH The Duchess of Sussex! #HappyBirthdayHRH,” the official royal family Twitter account captioned a photo of Meghan posing with Queen Elizabeth. Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla’s Clarence House Twitter account similarly wrote, “Wishing HRH The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday,” alongside a photo of Meghan with Charles and Camilla.

Lastly, the Kensington Royal Twitter account thanked royal fans for their kind words to Meghan on her special day. “Thank you everyone for your lovely messages on The Duchess of Sussex’s birthday! #HappyBirthdayHRH,” the note read.

So, how exactly did Meghan celebrate her first birthday as a member of the British royal family? On Aug. 4, Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, actually stepped out to attend Harry’s Ludgrove Prep School friend Charlie Van Straubenzee’s wedding to Daisy Jenks in Surrey, England.

The Van Straubenzee and Jenks wedding was likely a very fun way for Meghan to spend he 37th birthday as royal tradition dictates that members of the monarchy celebrate their birthdays privately at home and never throw a big party to ring in the special occasion, according to The Sun

When Harry turned 33 years old back in September 2017, he and his then-girlfriend Meghan — they didn’t announce their royal engagement until two months later! — had a “low-key” celebration at their Kensington Palace home. “Harry doesn’t like to make a fuss of birthdays so he liked that it was just the two of them. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be a huge thing with a group of friends,” a source told E! News of the celebration last year.
