A beautiful sight! After learning of her anal cancer diagnosis in November 2017, Marcia Cross knows just how truly lucky she is to still be around to see her daughters grow up.

The 57-year-old, who is currently in remission, recently spoke with CNN and revealed just how happy she was to be able to see her two young girls graduate. “As I sat at my twin daughters’ graduation yesterday, I was so grateful to be alive and well and thought that if I could give that gift to another person it would all be worth it,” the actress said.

The Desperate Housewives star shares her kids Savannah and Eden, both 12, with her husband, Tom Mahoney — he is also in remission after a throat cancer diagnosis in 2009. In fact, it is because of Tom that Marcia learned she had a disease, as it was possibly linked through the same type of HPV. However, the current vaccination can help prevent cancer that is tied to HPV, which is why the TV star says she plans to vaccinate her children.

Today, she is completely open with her cancer bout, in hopes of showing others going through a similar situation not to be afraid of letting others know.

“I know that there are people who are ashamed. You have cancer, do you then also have to feel ashamed, like you did something bad because it took up residence in your anus?” the Melrose Place alum said during an interview with CBS This Morning.

“I mean, come on, really. There’s enough on your plate,” she continued. Marcia has now completed radiation and chemotherapy, as she added, “I’m feeling back to normal, though, it’s a new normal. I don’t think I’ll ever take it for granted. I’m the girl who goes to the bathroom now and I go ‘Yes! It’s great what my body can do! I’m so grateful.’”

It’s fantastic to see Marcia fighting the good fight, as she continues to try and enjoy every moment in her life!
