Keanu Reeves Reveals the Downfall of Fame: ‘You Feel Like An Animal in a Cage’
He is currently one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but there are some downfalls to being very famous, and Keanu Reeves knows that all too well.
The 54-year-old recently revealed to The Sunday Telegraph that he sometimes struggles with the massive amounts of attention he receives. “I’ll come out in the morning and get my newspaper (and they’re there). You feel like an animal in a cage,” the actor told the outlet.
The Speed star added that there are often tourists and vans that park outside his home. “They visit everyone’s homes and sit outside. They look at you like: ‘There’s One!’ And I get it. But walking around LA, no one cares pretty much,” he said.
However, while Keanu still has a tough time with fame, it hasn’t impacted the way he treats his fans, as he is known as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. In fact, he recently helped a bunch of stranded passengers after an emergency landing.
“So I got on a plane w/ Keanu … He was very pleasant,” freelance cartoonist Brian Rea shared on his Instagram about the experience. “Took photos, talked about latest project w/ 2 very enthusiastic airline employees. We boarded — He sat 2 rows up. I fell asleep. Then all of a sudden … Our plane w/ Keanu was diverted to Bakersfield. They just announced we may be taking … a bus”
Rea added that The Matrix star began trying to clear up the chaos by asking questions and even giving passengers some other options. Keanu even had some time to chat about his upcoming projects and play some country music for his fans.
Keanu may be getting a lot more attention soon, as not only does another sequel in the John Wick franchise come out, but he also has a full slate that includes roles in Toy Story 4, Bill and Ted Face the Music and The Starling.
