Katie Holmes Feels ‘Blessed’ to Be Mom to Suri Cruise: It’s ‘the Greatest Gift’
What a bond! Katie Holmes may try her best to keep her daughter, Suri Cruise, out of the spotlight, but she has made one thing clear: she knows how lucky she is to be her mother.
The 40-year-old recently sat-down with SHAPE to discuss many things, including her 13-year-old kid. “I feel very blessed to have such a special daughter,” the actress told the outlet. “Being her mom is absolutely the greatest gift and privilege.” In fact, the famous duo are so close that they even workout together.
“Sometimes I work out with my daughter. It just depends on the day,” Katie explained. “We have our routines, and occasionally they overlap. But I don’t force her to work out with me because I know that’s lame.” The Dawson Creek‘s alum is actually all about staying in tip-top form, and doing all she can to stay in the healthy lane.
“It’s better for everybody if you’re taking care of yourself,” the First Daughter star said. “I take 20 minutes in the morning to write down a list of the things I’m grateful for and listen to calming music. I give myself that time to just enjoy. It sets a good tone for my day.”
“I exercise four times a week. Variety is key, or I get bored,” she continued. “I like Spinning, boxing, and yoga, and sometimes I’ll take a dance class. I have my own Spin bike, so I can do it at home when I have to get up really early; otherwise I go to Flywheel Sports I got into boxing a couple of years ago, and now I take classes at Rumble.”
It sure is great that Katie — who shares Suri with her ex-husband Tom Cruise — is all about working out and spending time with her little one. This isn’t the first time that the Hollywood star has gushed about her daughter — she once spoke to Town & Country magazine about the youngster. “This business is so unstable, and you never really know where you’re going to be … My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now,” Katie said.
“It’s very important that I’m present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there’s nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed,” she added. So sweet!
