Kate Middleton And Meghan Markle Can Break Royal Protocol And Wear Shorter Hemlines While Pregnant — Here’s Why

Now that Meghan Markle is pregnant with her first baby, the Duchess of Sussex might be able to bend the royal fashion rules and wear shorter hemlines — just like her sister-in-law Kate Middleton did during her three pregnancies!

Cecile Reinaud, the founder of Seraphine — one of Kate’s favorite maternity brands! — recently told InStyle that the Duchess of Cambridge, 36, prefers to wear shorter dresses while expecting because “highlighting legs and arms is always a good trick to keep a nice silhouette.” And Reinaud predicted that Meghan might use this same style trick while she’s pregnant, too.

“[Kate] did [go shorter] for sure. She went shorter, on a couple of occasions well above her knee, which she never does normally,” Reinaud continued. “And especially in winter, because when she wore opaque black tights, it looks okay. It doesn’t look too much because it’s not bare legs, it’s black opaque tights with a shorter dress.”

“Because [Meghan’s] pregnancy is going to be a winter pregnancy, I think she’s more likely to shorten her hemline,” Reinaud said of Meghan, 37, who is expected to give birth to her first child in the spring of 2019. The Seraphine founder also predicted that Meghan will be sporting clothes similar to what we saw her wearing at Princess Eugenie‘s wedding while pregnant during the upcoming winter months. “This kind of coat dress,” she proposed.

As the former Suits actress gets further into her pregnancy, she might turn to Kate for more than just fashion advice. “Meghan will lean on Kate for help and advice because they’re women of a very similar age and I believe they are quite close as it is,” royal expert Jennie Bond recently told the UK’s New! magazine.

“Meghan doesn’t have any of her own family over here, so more than most she’ll lean on her new family and new friends,” Bond said. We can’t imagine how excited Meghan must be over the anticipated birth of her and Prince Harry‘s first baby!
