Julia Roberts Tells The Funny Story Of How She Found Out She Was Famous In A Bathroom

Too funny! Julia Roberts has been a star for decades, and while the actress has had an extremely successful career and many memorable moments thus far, one in particular sticks out to her: the moment she learned of her fame.

During the Monday, Dec. 17 episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, the 51-year-old revealed the funky location where she found out about her new level of fame: a bathroom stall. “I went home to Georgia to visit my mom and my younger sister and we went to the movies,” Julia shared while also reminiscing of her previous gig at the ice cream store across the street. “It was after the movie was over and I was in the bathroom and there was a woman in the bathroom who said, ‘Hey, girl in stall number one, were you in Mystic Pizza?'”

Once Julia replied ‘Yeah,’ let’s just say the woman took things to the next level by asking her for an autograph. She slid “something under the stall” and asked, “Will you sign this?” Julia responded, “‘Uh, not right now,'” adding, “And I thought, wait, this is different.”

We’d be starstruck if we ran into Julia Roberts in a bathroom too, so we can’t really blame the fan. Ever since the encounter, Julia has been mesmerizing fans everywhere: including Meghan Markle! It was previously revealed that the Pretty Woman star inspired Meghan to become an actress.

“She was the first person I saw onscreen and thought, ‘That looks like so much fun; I wanna do that.’ When I was younger, someone once told me, ‘You kind of look like Julia Roberts in profile.’ It was the best compliment of all time,” Meg told Glamour in 2017.

When Julia learned of this, she gushed to People at the recent premiere of her new movie, Ben Is Back, “I am just going to be floating on that all night!” Maybe the Duchess of Sussex will get Julia’s autograph someday!
