You have to admit, on top of being the First Daughter, a wife, a mother, and a businesswoman, Ivanka Trump is quite the fashionista. Her eponymous fashion brand speaks to that all the time, but her unique State of the Union dress proved that she can rock any style perfectly — even if it’s plain and simple.

At the Tuesday, Jan. 30 event, Ivanka looked gorgeous in a black, blue, red, and white plaid frock designed by Oscar de la Renta. Her look (which paired so nicely with her husband Jared Kushner’s black suit), didn’t cause as much controversy as her stepmother Melania Trump’s, though. The First Lady gained media attention when she seemingly dressed just like Hillary Clinton — in a white pantsuit!

Ivanka’s A+ fashion choice comes as no surprise. Her brand just opened its doors to its NYC store. However, even though the brand is thriving, Ivanka announced before her dad, Donald Trump, was sworn into office that she will step down from her duties there while he’s president (for the past year, she’s not worked with the brand).

“When my father takes office as the 45th President of the United States of America, I will take a formal leave of absence from The Trump Organization and my eponymous apparel and accessories brand. I will no longer be involved with the management or operations of either company,” she revealed in a statement at the time.

She added, “I have appointed Abigail Klem as president to lead my brand. She will work with a board of trustees to manage the strategic and day-to-day operations of the business; I am confident that under her leadership the company will continue creating smart, solution-oriented product, and content.” We can’t wait to see what great styles she’ll create if and when she goes back to the company!
