On the red carpet, fans might leap at the chance to meet Idina Menzel, but at home, the 47-year-old singer admits that her nine-year-old son, Walker Diggs, is not the least bit intrigued by her career. In a new interview with Us Weekly, Idina explained why she’s not so popular in her son’s eyes.

“He doesn’t care. All he wants to do is play basketball,” Idina revealed about Walker, adding that he “could care less” about her recently reuniting with Kristin Chenoweth to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Broadway’s Wicked.

Walker — who Idina welcomed in 2009 with her ex-husband, actor Taye Diggs — isn’t even interested in watching Frozen with his mother, who voices Elsa in the magical film. “He’s seen it maybe twice. He hates it,” she said. “It’s princessy and it’s mommy singing, so it means that she has to work and go sing the stupid song, and it takes me away from him.”

The only part of Idina’s job that Walker finds interesting is that he gets to tell all of the girls at his school that his mom is Elsa. “That’s his game,” she shared. But since Walker is still so young, Idina knows that her little boy will soon find out that she has the most amazing job on earth when he gets older. “He’s going to think I’m the coolest mom,” she said. How sweet!

After Idina and Taye called it quits after 11 years of marriage in 2014, she later went on to marry Aaron Lohr in 2017. The duo co-starred in the 2005 film Rent together and, after they tied the knot last year, Idina announced the happy news on Twitter. “Wanted to let you know… Married the love of my life #AaronLohr this weekend [at] our home. [My] dad [and my] son walked me down [the] aisle,” she said. “It was magical!”
