While Gwyneth Paltrow‘s acting peak was quite high, she is starring in less Hollywood films these days, and she recently revealed that it’s because of how different things are in the industry today.

“I think the movies and the business around them have changed so much in the last 20 years,” the 46-year-old told Variety in a new interview, adding that the type of films she was all about aren’t really being made anymore. “Would they make The Royal Tenenbaums? Would they make The Talented Mr. Ripley? Would they make Shakespeare in Love?” she added.

The highlight of the actress’ acting career has to be her Oscar win for her portrayal of Viola in the 1998 film Shakespeare In Love, the film that actually won Best Picture over Saving Private Ryan that year. Gwyneth also just revealed that due to her rough split from Brad Pitt at the time, she almost passed on her award-winning role. “The movie had many iterations. Julia Roberts was going to do it for a long time, and then that version fell apart. It ended up in Miramax, and I was the first person they offered it to,” she said. “I was in the middle of a terrible breakup and the idea of going to England and being far from home just seemed … I didn’t even read [the script]. I was just like, ‘I can’t read anything right now. I’m having a really hard time.’”

These days, the mother-of-two is busy with her lifestyle brand, Goop, but she has still continued acting, most notably as Robert Downey Jr.‘s right-hand woman in the Iron Man and Avengers films, although she recently revealed that she will be doing that less, too. Since she isn’t working on many films today, the actress now apparently has time to sit down and write a book about her life.

“Gwyneth has had a lot of success with her cookbooks and she has a big fan base for them. But she’s now been approached to write a tell-all about her life in Hollywood,” an insider exclusively told Closer Weekly. “Gwyneth used to be really private but lately has become one of the most candid celebrities around. She’s becoming less and less reserved when it comes to sharing details of her personal life and assuming Gwyneth agrees to write about her upbringing and her marriages, she stands to make a fortune!”
