Gisele Bündchen Reveals the Reason for Her Past Split From Leonardo DiCaprio

Former model Gisele Bündchen was one-half of Hollywood’s hottest couple in the early 2000s, but it was an urge to better herself that ultimately drove her to split from Leonardo DiCaprio.

In a new interview with Porter magazine, the 38-year-old revealed the reason why she ultimately decided to say goodbye to the Oscar winner, 44. “No longer numbing myself with smoking, drinking and too much work, I was becoming more and more aware of things that I’d chosen not to look at,” the Victoria’s Secret model said. “Was I alone in wanting to do some serious soul-searching while he stayed the same? In the end, unfortunately, the answer was yes.” The pair dated from 2000 to 2005 and Leo’s romance with Gisele was The Revenant‘s star longest relationship to date.

Soon after Gisele broke things off with the actor, she began dating football player Tom Brady and they later married in 2009. The duo will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary in February and share three kids: 9-year-old Benjamin, 6-year-old Vivian Lake and 11-year-old Jack, who the quarterback, 41, shares with his previous partner, Bridget Moynahan.

And while she’s made a career of showing off clothes and outfits, Gisele told the outlet that it is her hubby who is actually all about looks in their family. “I’m a jeans and T-shirt kinda girl. If you see me once a year at the Met [Gala] dressed up, it’s because I have to wear a dress, otherwise I’d show up like this,” she said. “It’s so funny. Tom actually loves clothes more than I do. Sometimes I’m like, ‘What is all this clothing that is showing up at my house?’ He just loves it. The only time he asks me advice about clothes is when we go to the Met Ball, and he wants to coordinate with what I’m wearing.”

As for Leo, he is currently dating Camila Morrone, 21, another model. However, their relationship may soon lead to something more, as a source recently told Us Weekly that the duo “are very serious.” The insider added, “Everyone is saying that marriage could be soon for them.” Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
