Eva Longoria Jokes That Son Santiago’s 1st Birthday Bash Will Be Bigger Than Her Wedding
With her son’s 1st birthday coming up, Eva Longoria is worried she may be getting a little ahead of herself. The Desperate Housewives alum, who is gearing up to celebrate baby Santiago’s milestone birthday on June 19, recently opened up about the over-the-top extravaganza.
“I swore I wasn’t going to be that mom and have a crazy big birthday party but cut to now — it’s bigger than our wedding,” Eva, 44, dished to People during the premiere of her new ABC show Grand Hotel on Monday, June 10. She jokingly added, “It will be black-tie optional.”
The Eva’s Kitchen author explained why the party for baby Santi — whom she welcomed last June alongside her husband, José Bastón — seems a little extreme. “We’re doing his baptism and his birthday at the same time,” Eva said. “That’s why it’s so big.”
Baby Santi was actually present for the Grand Hotel premiere, which Eva quipped is because he “never misses a party.” Throughout the screening of the provocative drama series, which Eva executive produces, the loving couple stood in the back while their little bundle of joy cheered on the episode with a rattle.
This past December, the brunette beauty opened up about becoming a mom and the advantages that come along with the luxury of bringing her son to set. “He’s always with me,” she gushed to Us Weekly.
At the time, Eva explained how incredible it was having Santi constantly around, even while filming the live-action version of Dora the Explorer and while directing episodes of Black-ish. “The great thing about the work I do is that I’m able to do that. I’m really grateful,” Eva said to the outlet. “I get to take Santiago to work every day.” So sweet!
The Telenovela actress even admitted that motherhood is everything she dreamed of and more. “It’s amazing. Every cliché has come true, but it’s wonderful,” she shared. “I’m really lucky to have such a good boy.”
