1959

Elvis and Priscilla first crossed paths in 1959, when the then-teenager attended a party on a military base where both her father and Elvis were stationed in Germany. Although there was a 10-year age difference between the two, Priscilla and Elvis hit it off right away.

In an interview with Closer in November 2017, Priscilla recalled meeting the singer for the first time. “I’ll never forget it,” she gushed. However, dating wasn’t necessarily an option considering Priscilla’s parents were extremely against her getting involved with the rock-n-roll star.

“My father said, ‘Absolutely not!'” she remembered. “My mother said, ‘I won’t let you walk across the street to see Elvis Presley!’ I knew this was going to be a battle.” Luckily, Priscilla and Elvis won that argument.

1962

After Elvis won his future mother-in-law and father-in-law over, Priscilla begged her parents to let her move to Graceland in Tennessee. After months of pestering, she packed her bags and moved down south to be with her famous boyfriend.

Although she thought it would be filled with glitz and glamour, Priscilla told Closer that her life there “was lonely,” as she lived among Elvis’ friends and family. “There were no pictures of us ever taken,” she explained. The red-haired beauty also revealed that Elvis’ powerful manager at the time “didn’t really want Elvis [to have] a steady girlfriend” because he was worried about his fans deserting him. “He was kind. He just didn’t want [fans] to know I was ‘the one,'” Priscilla confessed.

1967

The couple made their relationship official when they tied the knot on May 1, 1967. At the time, the pair had to keep their marriage an undercover operation. In order to keep their love out of the spotlight, Priscilla revealed they snuck away from Las Vegas’ Aladdin Hotel at 3 a.m. to get their marriage license.

They both were “very nervous,” she said. “I didn’t want anyone to know about [the wedding] until after the fact.” Despite getting married, Priscilla admitted the honeymoon phase wasn’t that happy considering she was being bombarded by fans. “Hate mail started coming in,” she explained. “It was hard on me.”

1968

Just nine months after Priscilla and Elvis celebrated their long-awaited nuptials, the former lovebirds welcomed their first and only daughter. Priscilla and Elvis became the mom and dad of Lisa Marie Presley after she arrived on February 1, 1968.

Although she said the “Can’t Help Falling in Love” crooner was “a great dad,” Priscilla joked that Elvis never changed a diaper. “Not ever. That wasn’t a man’s job,” she said.

Instead, Elvis figured his job as a dad was to give his daughter everything, including a fur coat. “I didn’t let her have it much because she was three!” Priscilla admitted to Closer. “Even when she lost a tooth, he gave her five bucks. I said, ‘Look, you can’t give her five dollars!’” But Elvis would say, “She’s Elvis Presley’s daughter!”

1972

Life before Lisa was much different for Elvis and Priscilla. After welcoming their adorable little girl, Priscilla told Closer that their relationship went south.

“It was really difficult because we would still go out at night,” she explained, adding that both parties were to blame when it came to infidelity. “Elvis kept up his lifestyle.” Priscilla explained that she turned a blind eye “for as long as I could. But I did know that there was some finagling going on.”

The mom of one revealed she had enough of their tumultuous marriage when she filed for divorce in 1972, which ultimately became final in 1973.

1977

Just four years after the former twosome finalized the dissolution of their marriage, Elvis tragically died on August 16, 1977, after suffering a massive heart attack because of a drug overdose.

Priscilla told Closer that day “was the eeriest I had ever experienced… It’s like the world stood still,” she said. “I just couldn’t believe my ears. Not him.”

Even though it’s been decades since she last said goodbye to her first love, Priscilla admitted “it’s still hard” thinking about his death. “He was so much a part of my life in every way,” she gushed while remembering her late ex-lover. “He was everything to me. My confidante, my husband, my everything.”
